Climate Investment today announced that Urbint, the leading AI platform with methane abatement technology that predicts and stops threats to critical infrastructure and workers, has joined Climate Investment’s growing portfolio to become its 23rd investment focused on decarbonization. The investment is part of Urbint’s $60 million Series C investment round.

“By protecting critical infrastructure, Urbint’s technology prevented methane emissions equivalent to over 60,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide in 2020 alone.” said Pratima Rangarajan, OGCI Climate Investment CEO.

“We look forward to accelerating Urbint’s climate impact by supporting their growth into new markets around the world.”

Critical infrastructure companies use Urbint to stop failures, damages, and worker injuries before they happen. With the US passing historic infrastructure spending, this latest funding round will enable the company to scale its technology and introduce new solutions to meet rising demand for the company’s incident prevention software, including from the oil and gas industry.

Urbint’s ability to quantify greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) impact will be further enhanced by participation in Forward Impact, a collaborative initiative co-founded by OGCI Climate Investment to help investors direct capital to solutions with the highest GHG emission impact.

Climate Investment was joined by fellow new investors Energize Ventures and American Electric Power, and existing investors Energy Impact Partners, National Grid Partners, Blue Bear Capital, and Salesforce Ventures in the funding round. In total Urbint has received $109 million of funding.
